I printed off 2 sets of caps in the colors the peddler had and printed off a picture of the peddler. The children practiced counting and stacking the caps on the peddlers head and practiced sorting the caps by color.
We had blocks and let the kids build towers by stacking the blocks.
The children had great fun imitating the monkeys and acting out the story.
We had a bunch of baseball caps for the children practice walking with hats balanced on their heads.
I cut out 2 or 3 teddy bear paper dolls for each child and had lots of construction paper shirs, pants, dresses, bows, shoes, etc. cut out and let each child dress a bear or two.
We read several other teddy bear books - Bear's Busy Year - A book About Seasons. and A Day in the Life of a Baby Bear.
Nursery Rhymes - notice refernces to "Hey Dittle-Dittle", "The Three Bears", and "The Three Little Kittens"; read some nursery rhymes.
Bible - Gen. 1:14-19, talk about the forth day of creation and the sun, moon, and stars, used popcyle stick puppets of the sun, moon, and stars, and sang songs with the words "Sun", "Moon" and "stars" in them. ("Twinkle, twinkie, little star"; "Mr. Sun", etc.)
